My Postpartum Journey

Hi Friends! Just wanted to pop in here and update you more. I’ve missed my little blog, and all it’s history. Over on my Instagram, I’ve opened up these past months and shared some of my Postpartum Journey. (You can look through my posts there in my feed and also check out my Stories Highlight titled “Postpartum.”

My first years of motherhood have been beautiful but also brutal. I battled Postpartum PTSD after our traumatic birth experience — I shared the story here — which led to anxiety and depression. After fighting through for months and months, I finally asked for help last October (2018) and began Therapy with a Christian Psychologist who specializes in Postpartum Disorders and Trauma. In the past 6 months, I’ve seen so much healing and even though I’m still wading through “in the thick” of it, I see the light shining at the end of the tunnel and it’s so hope filled to feel normal again. Postpartum Disorders are real and many women struggle. My heart in sharing this part of our family’s story so vulnerably is to hopefully bring awareness to this topic — it needs to be talked about more. We all need to be aware of Postpartum Disorders so that we can understand and love on the women in our lives and to be aware of how we feel mentally, emotionally, and physically as pregnant and postpartum mothers.

Because of what I’ve walked through, this is SO close to my heart — and personal to share — and I do so to hopefully make one mama out there in the world feel a little less alone.

Instead of writing about what my postpartum journey has looked like, I dreamed up a music video to a healing song and sweet Daniel made it come to life.

Know, dear ones, if you are going through something similar… you are never alone and you are LOVED.
