One of my favorite things to eat and make is a Charcuterie Board! My parents make them every holiday season, all my life, and since becoming a mom, I’ve been making these up for us on a weekly basis — who knew how easy and fun it could be to make a cheese board! Daniel often works weird hours (#musicianwifelife ;) so, I try to have things on hand that we can pull out of the fridge at any hour and make a healthy, filling snack or quick, possibly on-the-go meal. This fits the bill, AND, as Weston gets older (and pickier haha) I’ve found it’s a fun and easy thing to feed a toddler, too!

So, to give you other mamas (or grandmas or nannies or godmothers or whoever you may be!) ideas for feeding your loved-littles, here’s how I make a simple but toddler-approved Charcuterie board:

Elements:

Typically, Charcuterie Boards are made up of 5 types of food/flavors:

  • Meat

  • Bread

  • Cheese

  • A Savory

  • A Sweet

Ideas and Things I Add To My Toddler-Friendly Cheese Board:

  • Meat: the day I made this particular cheese board, I didn’t have meat on hand that Weston would eat, so I left it out. But usually, I’ll add pepperonis, a few slices of salami, ham or turkey deli meat sliced up. Since it’s a protein, I always add mixed nuts

  • Bread: Rice Cakes, Goldfish, Cheez-Its, Ritz Crackers. You can even fancy and make tiny Peanut Butter and Jelly Sandwiches (using small cookie cutters to cut them to small, fun sizes.)

  • Cheese: Cheddar Cheese diced up is my go-to and mostly what Little Guy loves! You could also dice up White Cheddar or Mozzarella.

  • A Savory: For our adult-friendly Charcuterie Boards I add in green Garlic-Stuffed Olives and Pepperoncini Peppers. For little ones, a kid friendly item is pickles. I don’t know about your kiddos, but Weston could eat pickles all day haha! I also add in some hummus, usually. Lots of littles I know love hummus. And it’s healthy!

  • A Sweet: Grapes, strawberries, blueberries, apples, raspberries,

For toddlers, I like to also add some crunchy things! Weston does eat crunchy veggies and they’re just so healthy. So I add in carrots or cucumbers.
